Can Razov-Bradley reunion be in the stars?
May 13, 2005

The local writers are speculating, and with Cornell Glen (who?) now starting in Columbus, could we soon see Ante Razov in a Metro uniform? It is no secret that Razov is one of Bob Bradley's favorite players, and it is also no secret than every coach Razov had had -- other than Bradley -- he did not get along with. The MetroStars wanted to trade for Ante in this offseason, but Chicago would not deal with its former coach, instead sending the striker to Columbus. But with Razov's poor play, the subsequent acquisition of Glen, the season-long injury to Duncan Oughton and the retirement of another ex-Metro, Ross Paule, the Crew's hole looks to be in the midfield rather than up front.

So what could the Metro offer for Razov? The only starting midfielder they'd be willing to depart with is Mark Lisi, and remembering how Columbus scoffed at a Lisi (and Glen!) offer for Danny Szetela, that alone might not be enough. Metro can always throw in some draft picks, and they do still have an allocation, which Bradley seems resigned to hold off until the summer signing period.

After an internet report that a Lisi-for-Razov trade was on, Nick Sakiewicz nixed the rumor to BigAppleSoccer. "There's nothing. We haven't even spoken to the Columbus Crew," Sakiewicz said.
